QUALIFICATIONS: Upon hire, the candidate must have 60 credits or pass the Idaho Paraprofessional Assessment Exam to satisfy the Highly Qualified Requirement currently defined by the Idaho State Department of Education.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; preference may be given to applicants with college education.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to write simple correspondence
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
REASONING ABILITY:
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community

• Work Environment: The employee is continuously responsible for assisting the teacher with the safety, well-being, and work output of students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in small group pupil instruction and tutoring at teacher’s request
• Keep accurate records
• Help maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment
• Participate in appropriate in-service training programs as requested
• Operate standard school equipment such as a laminator, copier, audiovisual, etc.
• Contribute to and maintain a positive attitude toward students, program environment, teachers, and program administration
• Perform other duties as needed that contribute to the well-being of the school
