Principal - Harmon Newhouse

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The health and safety of our students and staff come first!  Boundary County School District #101 will work diligently to reopen schools for the 2020-2021 school year. We believe strongly that our students need to be in school, while reducing risks and minimizing the spread of COVID-19 with the most current information available. Our reopening plan reflects three categories. Our School Board with input from the Governor’s Office, State Board of Education, Department of Education, and Panhandle Health will govern the category we are operating under. It is crucial for our students’ education that we are fluid and flexible in moving between each category. At this time, we are in Category 2, yellow. This may change before the school year starts. We will have early release, so teachers can teach both in-person and remotely. Valley View Elementary will be dismissing students at 2:52 each day.

As parents, you have three options for your students:

  1. Hybrid model:

Category 1 (GREEN) – Students will attend in person.

Category 2 (YELLOW) – Students will attend two days a week in person and remotely for the other two days. Students with the last names starting with A – KOB are Group A and will attend school in person on Mondays and Tuesdays. Students with the last names starting with KOE – Z are Group B and will attend school in person on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Category 3 (RED) – Students will attend school remotely.

  2. Full remote:

Remote learning from your assigned Boundary County School District teacher is available in all phases. This choice is for parents/guardians that want to keep their student(s) home all year. Traditional grading will occur in this option. Please email your child’s teacher to set this option up.  The website is: https://vves-bcsd-id.schoolloop.com/directoryteacherwebsites. (There is an envelope by the teacher’s name.)

  3. IDLA:

Parents/guardians may choose to enroll their child(ren) in Idaho Digital Learning Academy throughout schools. IDLA is an online program instructed by out of district teachers. Currently, our district only as 40 slots. If you are interested in the IDLA option, please contact the curriculum office at 208-267-3146.

During any category we are operating under, we are requesting the following to help stop the spread of COVID-19:

  • Wash hands often for a minimum of 20 seconds
  • Stay 6 feet apart or as practical as possible
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes
  • Wear a face covering/mask
  • Clean frequently touched surfaces often
  • Stay home if you are sick

Thank you!  If you have questions, please contact our office.
