Parent Contributors Sought for Special Education Parent Advisory Panel

The Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) requires that every state establish and maintain a Special Education Advisory Panel (SEAP) that advises on education and related services for children with disabilities.

The responsibilities of Idaho's SEAP are, as defined in IDEA Section 1412 (a) (21):

Advise on unmet needs within the state in the education of children with disabilities

Comment publicly on any rules or regulations proposed by the state regarding the education of children with disabilities

Advise on developing evaluations and reporting on data to the Secretary under section 1418 of this title

Advise on developing corrective action plans to address findings identified in federal monitoring reports under this subchapter

Advise on developing and implementing policies relating to the coordination of services for children with disabilities

Parents of children with disabilities and individuals with disabilities are vital members that represent a majority of the advisory panel. Parents interested in adding their voices to this space are encouraged to apply now. Click here to learn more or fill out the application form at the button below.
