Important Health Notice
October 29, 2025
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are writing to let you know there is a confirmed case of measles in Boundary County. We want all our students, staff, and fellow community members to be safe and healthy. We will monitor the potential risk to our students and staff and work with our local medical community to help guide us as we communicate with you.
What is Measles? Measles is a very contagious sickness that spreads easily from person to person. It can spread by air and direct contact or when someone coughs or sneezes.
The first signs of measles usually appear about 1 to 2 weeks after a person is exposed. They can feel like a bad cold. The symptoms are:
- A fever greater than 101 °F
- Cough
- Runny nose
- Red, watery eyes
- Rash that usually starts on the face along the hairline and behind the ears, and then spreads down the body.
What You Should Do
- Watch for Symptoms: Please keep a close eye on your child(ren) for any of the symptoms listed above; and
- If Your Child is Sick: If your child develops an illness with fever (101 °F or higher), cough, runny nose, or red eyes (even if they don’t have a rash), contact your child’s healthcare provider and school nurse.
Our district policy 3525 Immunization Requirements is designed to protect everyone's health. The policy can be found on our website at www.bcsd101.com or you may ask for a copy from the main office at any school building. We will send out more information if we have any updates.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
A.Martinez, RN, BSN
BCSD #101 School Nurse
