Text reads " Free Winter Driving Classes. Your teen has the keys but are they ready for winter? Did you know Idaho teens are 2.6 times more likely to be involved in a crash? Now add snow and ice! Source: ITD Office of Highway Safety annual crash report."

Every year The Idaho Transportation Department and Idaho State Police team up to offer free winter driving classes across North Idaho.

These classes go beyond the winter driving basics covered in driver’s education. Taught by ISP troopers and ITD snowplow operators, they draw on firsthand experience responding to winter crashes and keeping highways safe. Topics include preparing vehicles for winter, driving on snow and ice, sharing the road with snowplows, and what to do after a crash or slide-off.

Teens ages 14 and older are welcome, including those preparing to take driver’s education within the next year. Parents are encouraged to attend with their teens. No driver’s license is required; classes are classroom-based and do not include behind-the-wheel instruction.

As a class sponsor, and a show of their commitment to safe driving, all class participants (or their parents) are eligible for a 10% discount on new snow tires at any North Idaho location Les Schwab Tire Center stores!
