Dear Boundary County 101 School District Community,

At the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year, Bonners Ferry High School entered the second year of school improvement as per the No Child Left Behind Guidelines.

Although I assure all of our students and community members that our staff works hard to provide quality education, we continue to pursue various avenues to improve in the areas of reading and mathematics.

Over the last 3 years the high school staff has developed the following to address various academic and school climate issues:

1)      an advisory board that includes parents, teachers, and students

2)      Remedial math and reading classes for students who are not proficient in state testing

3)      A freshmen transition class that focuses on reading, work ethic, and learning skills

4)      Various researched based instructional strategies for all classes

5)      Professional Development practices in specific content areas

Throughout the 2007-2008 school year the staff will continue to analyze various data that affects instruction and assessment.

I am very confident that with the measures in place and with our future plans we will successfully address these issues.

Please contact my offices with any questions or concerns .

Sincerely,

Curt-Randall Bayer

Bonners Ferry High School Principal
