Boundary County School District #101 Parents and Guardians
Dear Boundary County School District #101 Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to a new school year. This letter details Boundary County School District #101's progress toward state Reading and Mathematical goals and reviews options available to some students.
Each year, all districts are required to reach goals in Reading, Mathematics, and Language Arts. Districts must meet the proficiency targets in 41 different areas withing these subjects. See attached Adequate Yearly Progress Report for the district's proficiency ratings. The full report is available from the Office of the Board of Education at http://apps.sde.idaho.gov/AYP/Home/SelectPublic.
Boundary County School District #101 is in School Improvement year 4 reading and School Improvement year 2 math because Students with Disabilities did not meet the academic targets in reading and math. In keeping with the No Child Left Behind [NCLB] law; the Boundary County School District #101 may have education options available for individual students. Feel free to consult the District Superintendent on these options.
Districts do not take missing any goal lightly. The district is committed to using the best strategies to help individual students. The goal is for all students to be successful. To that end, districts will be providing strategies to help children who struggle to improve, such as:
- Providing differentiated instruction coaches at all schools to support teachers in developing lessons and assesments to meet the needs of all students.
- Providing a math coach and math curriculum and assesment team to analyze data and instruction to meet all students' needs.
- Providing PLATO as an intervention to meet the unique needs of individual students.
- Providing on-going assessment to evaluate student performance and instruction need to succeed.
There are many ways that you can be involved in helping us address the issues around District Improvement. Below are some ways local patrons can become involved:
- Communicating with the district-leadership team and school improvement teams to discuss options available.
- Contacting the superintendent to discuss other options.
Thank you for your time, interest and attention on this issue.
Sincerely,
Dr. Mike Rush
Executive Director
